Charles Reuge established in 1865 his first musical pocket shop in Sainte-Croix. Sainte-Croix is village situated in the North of the Swiss Jura. His son Albert opened in 1886 a music box workshop. He worked together with his full family. In 1930, His son Guido buit the actual manufacture and acquired several competitors, bringing the company to a new dimension. In 1960 the company decided to revive the singing birds and took over the French manufacturer Bontemps. In 1977 Reuge acquired the French Eschle too. Nowadays, Reuge builts luxury music boxes, music pocket watches and singing birds. It is a true master of mechanical music. It has introduced a modern design in its production.
